On November 23, 2022, the Penguins wore a special set of “Evgeni Malkin” jerseys for pre-game warm-ups prior to the game against the Calgary Flames at PPG Paints Arena to commemorate Evgeni Malkin’s 1,000th NHL regular season game on November 20, 2022 at Chicago. The jerseys were auctioned online, with proceeds benefiting the Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation and Ronald McDonald House Charities of Pittsburgh and Morgantown in support of Malkin’s “I’m Score for Kids” initiative. The jerseys were identical to the Home (black) jerseys worn during the regular season and all players wore Malkin’s #71 and Alternate Captain’s “A”. The player’s number who wore the jersey was written on the fight strap to identify which player wore each jersey. The jerseys were auctioned on e.givesmart. A total of 19 jerseys were auctioned by the Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation from November 23, 2022 to December 2, 2022.
